I switched to this from a french link boucher bit for my ex-barrel racer mare that has a very heavy forehand and very sensitive mouth. I love this bit because it's supple as long as she is, but if she leans into the bit or gets stiff it acts like a wall that forces her to release. I'd prefer it in a full cheek, but as long as you order 1/2-inch up in size it shouldn't pinch your horse's cheeks!
