Hydrophane seems to be hit-and-miss as far as darkening goes. I had luck darkening Arc de Triomphe tack but zero results on my Vespucci bridle. Maybe that says more about the leather than the product? I wouldn't use it as a sole conditioner, either.
Yes this actually darkens a lot. So be prepared. Used it on a very very pale tan hackamore and after about 5 applications it ended with a brown caramel color.
